On Call
FM contractor Monteray appointed CLM to carry out both electrical and gas safety tests for BT.
Electrical safety tests are being carried out to both fixed installations and portable appliances for 111,000 employees operating from 800 properties throughout the country that include the Grade II listed BT Tower in London.
Annual testing and repairs to gas heating boilers are also being conducted within BT service centres across the south-west and south Wales. This complies with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, providing full certification to cover any repairs necessary.
CLM’s engineers are on call for full reactive cover, to provide a 24,12 or 4-hour response depending upon site requirements.
Sheffield Wednesday
CLM Compliance confirms today being appointed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a £45,000 contract to test all portable electrical appliances used by 1,200 staff for safety on two sites.
Located near the Hillsborough Stadium is The Northern General seen in the photo, which is the trust’s largest hospital campus spanning 100 acres to provide over 1,100 beds and employs more than 6,000 staff. Six miles away is the 850-bed Royal Hallamshire Hospital employing nearly 6,000 staff.
South-west phones for gas safety
FM firm Monteray has appointed CLM Compliance for annual testing and repairs to gas heating boilers within 37 BT service centres across the south-west and south Wales.
The inspections are carried out to comply with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, providing full certification to cover any repairs necessary.
CLM’s engineers are on call for reactive cover, to provide a 24,12 or 4-hour response depending upon site requirements. “The extended winter freeze forecast by the Met Office could prioritise those requirements,” said CLM manager Paul Dinnage.
County counting
Over 200,000 portable appliances have been counted so far to be tested for electrical safety by CLM Compliance, within 500 West Sussex County Council properties – and they’re still counting. The £194,000 contract covers schools, community centres and sports centres to be tested over five years.
Tower of Power
CLM Compliance engineers are conducting electrical safety tests of both the portable appliances used by staff and fixed wiring for 143 homes within three tower blocks of Merton Council in London.
The £80,000 contract is managed by CLM’s new London office.
London Calling
0207 5545166 is the telephone number of CLM’s new London office for operations across the south-east. The management team supports 130 engineers who begin 2010 with a compliance order book with contracts totalling £5 million for both commercial FM clients and the public sector.
“Our dedicated management team will develop long-term solutions for clients with multi-site property portfolios, to enhance both the sustainability and long-term value of their procurement,” said CLM director Shaun Caddick.
Don’t get shopped for non-compliance
Active lifestyle clothing brand Fat Face is taking advantage of CLM Group’s new gas safety service to carry out annual gas boiler servicing in addition to an already established fixed-wire testing contract. CLM is one of the very few companies with specialist, trained staff able to carry out both gas and electrical testing across the UK and Ireland, now operating across Fat Face’s nationwide store network.
With 163 stores, Fat Face maintenance helpdesk co-ordinator Sue Holton required a company able to offer a total compliance service. She commented, “having employed CLM since 2007 to provide our electrical compliance service, it made sense to have them carry out our gas safety testing as well. A one-company solution saves me time and effort and with so many stores to manage I find it invaluable.”
This contract is a vindication of the investment CLM has made in its training programme. Having always provided comprehensive training for its electrical engineers, it made sense to recruit already qualified gas engineers and train them in electrical safety testing. This ability to provide both services cost-effectively with a single engineer is an undoubted advantage in today’s marketplace.
Health and Safety
Royal Cornwall’s Hospital Trust is the latest healthcare client to receive the CLM Compliance treatment, to the value of £45,000 for testing the safety of fixed wiring within sites in Truro, Hayle and Penzance. West Cornwall Hospital’s Emergency Department in Penzance are seen in the photo.
